Your MLA
Ministers of the Legislative Assembly (MLA’s) serve as your voice in the decision making processes of government. They are your representatives. When your voice is heard by them it becomes part of the decision making process and democracy illuminates our halls of government. Also, with our prayers beseeching God to guide our MLAs, He can grant His wisdom, understanding, compassion and judgement to them as they carry out their daily responsibilities. It is then that we can begin to see and enjoy a nation blessed of God and exalted in righteousness.
Knowing the issues that are being debated in the Assembly allows you to add your voice to that debate. Go to our Assembly section to view the Weekly Diary and daily order of business for the Assembly. Follow your MLAs through the website They Work for You.com. Understand the issues that are important to you.
What kind of society do you want to live in? What laws and legislation do you want to be governed by? Your voice needs to be heard and by doing that Northern Ireland will be a better place to live for everyone.

Pray for your MLA
Why pray? Prayer can make all the difference. With competing points of view and different interests being represented in politics, only God can help a governing body to find the right balance between what is right, what is just, what demonstrates the greatest amount of compassion and what is the most effective policy in the short term and long term interests of all the people of Northern Ireland. It’s a complicated process.
Prayer changes everything and give everyone insight, wisdom, conviction of the right way forward and perseverance to see it through. Prayer helps us to identify the deepest needs in our society and their root causes. Prayer illuminates human understanding and enables Ministers to agree on innovative, imaginative and highly effective answers to the vast array of issues before any government.
God challenges us in the scripture, “If any man lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men liberally and upbraids not, but let him ask in faith, nothing wavering.” This is consistent with Hebrews 11:6, “ …but without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Proverbs 8:15-17 says, “By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” (KJV)
The scripture is full of examples of men and women who influenced their nations in a great way through the wisdom which God had given to them, (i.e. David, Solomon, Daniel, Hezekiah etc.)
FIRSTLY however, pray for your MLAs to know the Saviour, our Lord Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace personally, intimately and in all His fullness. Pray that they may be guided by Him in all wisdom and decision making. Pray that God would inspire all they say and do for His glory. Pray for their health, for their families and their children. Pray for a proper work life balance, that they may find rest and refreshing at home, free from the stresses of political life. Pray for their safety and for the safety of their loved ones. Pray for them as you would want to be prayed for.
Jesus said, “And whatsoever you shall ask in my Name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in my Name, I will do it.”
